I am a registered social worker who is passionate about supporting and empowering youth, teens, and young adults to live their lives to the fullest as they are now, while also helping to navigate the more challenging areas of life. Since 2018 I have worked as a School Social Worker. I have experience in both elementary and high schools, as well as in community organizations with youth and young adults from all walks of life.
Whether you are struggling with academic stress, family difficulties, issues with peers, anxiety and/or depression, or if you’re questioning your sexual or gender orientation, you don’t have to feel stuck where you are! I believe in a feminist, trauma-informed, anti-oppressive practice and draw from a variety of approaches including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), mindfulness, strength-based, solution focused and brief therapy.
No matter the situation, I believe in applying evidence- based techniques based on individual needs. However, the most important aspect when it comes to successfully engaging in therapy is having a trusting relationship with your therapist. That is why I pride myself on approaching every client as unique and will always assess your strengths and needs while keeping in mind that you are the expert of your own life.
If you aren’t sure where to begin, that’s okay too! I am here to provide the safe space that we all need in order to grow, reflect, and build the skills we need to understand ourselves better and improve our lives. I strongly believe that youth deserve the same respect granted to adults, and that the experiences and emotions of an individual are valid and important no matter their age.
You are allowed to be both a masterpiece and a work in progress simultaneously. ~Sophia Bush
Outside of work, you can typically find me hanging out with my dog, Archie, or spending time with my niece and nephews. I greatly enjoy reading, and always love to receive book recommendations from my clients. I love to travel and am always planning my next trip or friend get-together in my mind.
