Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)
“Healing doesn’t mean the damage never existed. It means the damage no longer controls our lives.”

One method of trauma therapy I practice is Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART).
To reduce the effects of trauma and other psychological stressors, I use Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), an evidenced based therapy that uses eye movements and voluntary image replacement within a protocol that works with your nervous system to help bring your brain and body back to a state of calm or regulation.
ART works to reprogram how painful and distressing memories and images are stored in your brain so they no longer trigger strong physical and emotional reactions. During an ART session you are not required to share the details of your story for our work together to be effective. ART is a procedural and creative therapy often effective within 1-5 sessions.
Accelerated Resolution Therapy was created by Laney Rosenzweig, MS, LMFT. ART is an evidence-based therapy. This is a brief, eye movement therapy that has been shown to effectively treat the root of trauma, stress, depression, anxiety, grief or any distressing experiences, in as few as 1-5 sessions. The eye movements used in ART create theta waves in the brain, which are connected to daydreaming and intuition, and deactivate the amygdala, which is responsible for our 'fight or flight' response. This helps calm the body and regulate your nervous system while processing painful memories, meaning your reaction to triggers will be drastically reduced or eliminated following the therapy. ART also involves replacing negative images and sensations with more positive ones, so that you keep the facts of your memories, but lose the pain.
We say, “Keep the Knowledge, Lose the Pain.” The magic of ART is the magic of our brain. Using eye movements enhances your ability to solve problems and get New Perceptions very quickly.
Who would benefit from ART?
ART can treat a variety of different concerns such as:
Benefits of ART
Non-talkative
Some people avoid therapy because they don’t want to talk. You don’t have to share details with ART. This approach is a body-based therapy, focused on processing physical sensations and changing images in the brain rather than sharing the details of painful memories. There are many opportunities to talk if you'd like to, but you can share as much or as little as you're comfortable with. Some examples might include childhood trauma, sexual abuse, car accidents, pain, phobias, substance abuse, and grief.
Replaces Negative Images
Some images play over and over again in our minds. I will guide you to replace stuck, negative images from your difficult experiences with more positive ones. While you'll still have the true narrative, your relationship to it will change so it will no longer trigger any emotional or physiological symptoms.
Directive & Collaborative
ART is a directive approach that prevents you from getting stuck and allows your brain to find personal and unique solutions to your problems. With compassionate curiosity, I will collaboratively guide you on this healing journey.
Brief
ART often resolves presenting problems in as few as 1-5 sessions. Treating many issues together as one theme can resolve even a whole childhood of abuse. ART can effectively move clients beyond their stuck points.
Evidence-Based
ART is research-backed and evidence-based and draws upon numerous effective therapies that are also evidence-based, including EMDR, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Gestalt, Guided Imagery, and Exposure Therapy.

What Is ART? - Accelerated Resolution Therapy
"Because one believes in oneself, one doesn't try to convince others. Because one is content with oneself, one doesn't need others' approval. Because one accepts oneself, the whole world accepts him or her.”
