Carmen has over 30 years of work experience in mental health. She embraces a compassionate, action-orientated approach which may just be the nudge or support you need to find the balance, direction, discipline, motivation, and tools to be your best you.
Carmen's Story:
I grew up in a small northern town where I was involved in sports and outdoor recreation from a young age. I participated in gymnastics, swimming, running, competitive figure skating and curling. I was also a varsity curling team athlete at the University of Guelph. Prior to having children, I competed at the provincial levels in women’s curling. For two decades I accompanied my three daughters on various sporting events such as competitive dance, swim meets and horse dressage competitions. During these years, I ran for my mental health but didn't have the time to engage in competitions. Once my daughters were off to university, and at the tender age of 45, I dusted off my running shoes and ran my first half marathon. I became hooked, completing over 16 races. Most recently, I ran my first full marathon at the age of 55 and have run 4 more over the past 3 years. (Currently training for my 5th 😊) We can do hard things at any age.
Are you familiar with the quote, “Do what you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life.” I have chosen to combine my passion in sport and psychology in my private practice. I truly love to share my insights and lessons I’ve learned over the years. I continue to be passionate about running and participate enthusiastically in a variety of sports where I get to explore issues around fear, courage, grit, intentions, flow state and mental focus. Clients have benefited from working with me to help them reach their full potential.
Areas of Practice:
I just love to share my passion for movement and mindfulness. I work with people to help them achieve their maximum potential. This holds true for athletes and top performers struggling with mental health issues. The pillars in this area of practice include:
"If my mind can conceive it and my heart can believe it- then I can achieve it."
